Kenari Plug? OK, what plug?

Hmmmm..... many Perodua Kelisa or Kenari owner may face some engine oil dripping out slowly from their engine during they park their car from of their house and tiring to cleaning the floor everyday.

Actually the oil is leak from where? From rocker cover gasket area? From the plug seal area? From oil pan gasket area? Foreman can't even tell you before they check carefully, and.... some say it leak from the parts that show on the above photo, see the o-ring there, it is claim that the o-ring is hardened and oil is leak out from there.

So what is this part call actually? The description had put a word of "PLUG" on its sticker, but this definitely not a spark plug. It is located near the camshaft area, need to take out the rocker cover before you can take this out.

So can we call this Cam Plug? I'm not sure as well, so anyone of you having this knowledge please provide some correct parts name for this item and actually what is its function?

International Engine of the Year 2012

Ford 999cc three-cylinder turbo

TECH SPEC.

Ford:

Displacement: 999cc

Number of cylinders: Three

Bore x stroke: 71.9mm x 82mm

Power Output: 123bhp

Compression ratio: 10:1

What a year it has been for Ford and its outstanding three-cylinder turbo engine. The Blue Oval finally broke its International Engine of the Year Awards jinx by collecting best New Engine and the Sub 1-litre Engine awards, but now the diminutive 999cc unit has gone one better and made it a treble by taking top spot in the race to be crowned the overall International Engine of the Year 2012.

Ford’s victory means that for the second consecutive year, a new name has been added to the International Engine of the Year Awards hall of fame, with Ford joining last year’s first-time winner Fiat, and previous victors Volkswagen, BMW, Toyota, Mazda and Honda.

Ford’s stunning success also means that since 2009, the overall winner has had a displacement of less than 1.4 litres - and in the past two years alone, the engine size of the winning International Engine of the Year Award has been below 1 litre - proof that downsizing is here to stay.

But Ford’s task in taking top spot was not easy. To qualify, it first had to beat last year’s champion - Fiat’s two-cylinder TwinAir - in the Sub 1-litre category.

And then, to take the overall title, it faced competition from GM’s range-extender powertrain and last year’s runner-up, Volkswagen’s ever-successful 1.4-litre TSI engine.

In the end, a crushing points victory among the European judges laid the foundation for its triumph in the overall International Engine of the Year Awards voting. Then, a solid endorsement from judges all around the world enabled the Ford to ease to first place, achieving a record tally of 401 points.

“This is a fitting victory for a truly remarkable engine,” said Dean Slavnich, co-chairman of the International Engine of the Year Awards and editor of Engine Technology International magazine. “For a three-cylinder to power a vehicle like the Ford Focus with such ease proves that the future is very, very bright for the IC engine. Power, response and very good real-world fuel consumption figures are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to this engine and what it offers drivers today. Well done Ford!”

Pajero IO 4G94 Engine Gasket

How many type of engine that install in Mitsubishi Pajero IO? I think the common type in Malaysia should be the H76W model with 4G93 1834cc engine, but you can found the model of H77W in Malaysia as well.

The H77W model, which using the 4G94 1999cc DOHC engine, is also seen on the Pajero IO on H62W, H67W and H72W, 2 items in their se content that catch my eye on it, one is the exhaust manifold gasket, which it have one extra hole compare to those 4G92 and 4G93 type.

Another one is its rocker cover gasket, it use 2pcs separate rocker cover gasket which unlike those which use 1pc on 4G92 and 4G93 engine.

Nissan K21 Forklift Engine

Flip the catalog over and over, just can't find the engine code K21 in the Nissan section, but it is existing, customer look for its engine gasket, what so special on this engine, it seem this engine just design for Nissan forklift, and this what had written on the eHow website,

Nissan uses its "K21" engine -- a 2.0-liter liquid-propane-gas- or gasoline-powered four-cylinder engine -- in a number of its LX-series forklifts. The LX is a fairly small hauler, designed to move palletized cargo weighing between 1,500 and 3,000 pounds. The K21 is used only for forklifts rated at 2,500 pounds and lower; heavier-duty variants get the 2.5-liter K25 or a 3.3-liter diesel.

Description and Applications

  • The K21 displaces 2,065cc (126 cubic inches). It comes with either a carburetor or electronic fuel injection (referred to in Nissan nomenclature as ECCS, or "electronic concentrated control system"). The carbureted K21 produces 46.23 horsepower at 2,200 rpm and 116 pound-feet of torque at 1,600 rpm. Fuel-injected K21s produce 60.1 horsepower at 2,700 rpm and 118 pound-feet of torque at 2,000 rpm. The K21 is used in L01A, PL01A, FL01A, UL02A and YL02A forklifts and all of their variants.

Basic Specs

  • All K21s have a 3.5-inch bore and 3.27-inch stroke, a two-valve cylinder head with bathtub-shaped combustion chambers, a 1-3-4-2 firing order (with the piston closest to the water pump being number 1). The K21 engine measures 28.85 inches long, 22.16 inches wide and 29.25 inches high; the engine weighs 304.24 pounds dry (without counting water in the cooling system or the four quarts of 10W-30 oil in its oil pan and filter). Compression ratio varies by fuel type: Gasoline-powered engines have 8.7-to-1 compression ratios and LPG engines have 9.3-to-1 compression ratios. Gasoline engines require 89 octane or greater; LPG engines require 30P or higher in colder seasons.

Daihatsu Mira 550cc Engine

Perodua Kancil 660cc is so common in Malaysia, suddenly a customer look for the Daihatsu Mira 550cc cylinder head gasket, the cylinder head gasket is really same with the Kancil 660 cylinder head gasket, the only thing is the bore diameter, whereby the 660cc is about 68mm but the 550cc is about 64mm.

Fact of Mira 550cc EB engine from Wikipedia.

The EB-series is a 547 cc (0.55 L) version built in Daihatsu's Osaka plant in Japan, meant for their domestic market range of Kei cars. Bore is 62 mm and stroke is 60.5 mm, with a firing order of 1—2—3.Outputs range between 32 PS (24 kW) to 64 PS (47 kW), the maximum allowed for a Kei car. Power claims for the very earliest Mira/Cuore models are in gross rather than net, which explains slight differences in power ratings for the first few years. This engine has not been exported to any great extent, with Daihatsu's export models usually receiving the larger ED and C-series engines.
The EB-series was only ever available with an SOHC valvetrain and two valves per cylinder, as Daihatsu were late to adopt multi-valve technology for their kei car range. However, the EB was available with an IHI turbocharger and intercooler, originally carburetted but later with fuel injection. This is still the only Kei engine to have reached the 64 PS threshold with only two valves per cylinder. There is also a rare supercharged version developed for the Hijet Pickup, to provide extra low-down torque and allow for an air conditioning unit to be fitted and used even when heavily loaded. This engine was also used for an economy version of the Italian Innocenti Mini, until replaced by the later 660 cc EF engine.
Applications:
The Daihatsu Leeza (often mistranslated as Daihatsu Risa) was a kei car with coupé styling launched in Japan in December 1986. It was taken out of production in August 1993 after having been largely replaced by the Daihatsu Opti of 1992. While having coupé lines, most of the Leezas sold in Japan were technically speaking commercial vehicles (with strapping points and temporary rear seats) to take advantage of ample tax breaks for such vehicles.

Interesting Oil Seal from Mitsubishi 4B11T

When I'm start do some little study on the relationship between Hyundai G4KC engine with those Mitsubishi 4B11 and 4B12 engine, which actually this engine all jointly develop by this 2 car manufacturer, I'm suddenly found the 4B11T which they said is very specially design for the Lancer EVO X.

By going through the engine gasket list on this 4B11T, many are still interchangeable with those 4B11 type of engine, but found something interesting on the flywheel oil seal side.

As the above photo you may notice the oil seal mark with "N" on the oil pump side, actually it just looks like those normal oil seal, but let's see what will be looks like on the 4B11T.

The 4B11T type of flywheel oil seal is coming with the metal case, although it is not very rare to found flywheel oil seal with metal casing this day, but just wonder why in the same fanily of 4B11 series of engine, why there are one model to have this design, is it there are any upgrading function with this type of oil seal?
