After all, Japan engine is more reliable than the German one?

Audi, BMW and VW ranked in the bottom 10 of a study into engine reliability

German-made cars are not as reliable as many believe, according to new research. Warranty Direct has studied its claims data to compile a list of the manufacturers with the most reliable engines - and AudiBMW and Volkswagen all finished in the bottom 10 out of a total 36 makers.
In fact, the only firm whose cars had a worse engine failure rate than Audi was MG Rover. MINI wasn’t much better, finishing third from bottom, while its parent company BMW came seventh from bottom. And, despite its reputation for rock-solid reliability, Volkswagen came ninth from bottom.
Honda scooped the gold medal – the study found that just one in every 344 Honda engines failed, compared to one in every 27 Audi engines. Despite its recent recall woes, Toyota came second and Mercedes managed to outperform its fellow German brands with a respectable third-place finish.
Duncan McClure, Warranty Direct Managing Director, said that engine failures are the worst for motorists as they’re the repairs that can lead to the highest costs because of the parts and hours of labour required to fix them: “The nuber of failures may be low compared to areas such as axle and suspension damage but engine repairs almost always result in costs reaching the thousands for motorists who aren’t covered by a warranty.”
An engine failure on a Range Rover Vogue recently led to Warranty Direct’s highest ever claim of £13,000.

Toyota 1PZ Engine Cylinder Head Gasket

























It is quite seldom to find a 5 cylinder engine for Toyota model, the only one that I can recall is only the 1PZ engine, which is on the Toyota Landcruiser PZJ70 and PZJ77.

The 1PZ is a 3.4 L (3469 cc) Inline 5 cylinder, 10 valve SOHC diesel engine. Bore is
 94 mm and stroke is 100 mm, with a compression ratio of 22.7:1output is 113 hp (85 kW)
 at 4000 rpm, with 230 Nm (170 lbft) of torque at 2600 rpm. The 1PZ is a 5 cylinder variant 
of the 1HZ engine and as such it shares many of its internals with that engine.

Suzuki M18A Cylinder Head Gasket























For Suzuki M13A, M15A and M16A engine, they can share the same type of cylinder head gasket, because their bore is all same as 78mm and only difference by the stroke as 69.5mm, 78mm and 83mm, it is commonly found in the Suzuki Swift model in Malaysia.

By looking at the engine code M18A, so it is common sense that there are in the same family with the above type of engine, but their bore is 83mm(11141-54GF1), which made the cylinder head gasket need to be have a bigger bore diameter than the others family member.

Looking at the Wiki site which M18A mainly use on Suzuki Aerio 1.8 in New Zealand and Australia, so who is bringing this engine to Malaysia and Indonesia market?

Suzuki K6A Rocker Cover Gasket


















Suzuki Alto 660, or may be is Cappuccino model, with a more later K6A engine, also have 2 kind of the rocker cover.

There are one with attached with 2 moon seal on it, which actually the design is like those 4 cylinder K10A and K12A rocker cover gasket, but shorter for its 3 cylinder application.

Anyway I'm speechless when customer took my head set gasket, and tell me that all the items are correct except for the rocker cover gasket. This one seem similar but only have 1 moon seal attached on it.

What to do? The sourcing process keep on continue..........
